I met Kenny in Old Mac on the corners of 34th & M Street N.W.. Old Macs was the locals local hangout and had been in Georgetown since time outta mind. I was sitting quietly with these two young ladies when my friend Jody came in. Jody stood about 6’8′ weighing in around two hundred and forty pounds. A washed out football player driving a D.C. cab. I like Jody because he was from Michigan.
He came up to our table, saw I had an extra girl and asked to sit down with us. We all said sure but there were no chairs so Jody reached across the community table and grabbed a spare chair, or so he thought. Before he could sit down there came a roar from the empty space,” WHERE THE HELL IS MY CHAIR””
Enter Kenny Galvin of the Boston Galvins. A whopping 5’3′ weighing in at 135 pounds soaking wet. Jody realizing his mistake offer to replace the chair no harm no foul, but Kenny was having none of it. Straight over the the table he flew landing on top of Jody arms flailing. It look like a scene from a cartoon, little Kenny hoisted up in the air swinging wildly, and huge Jody on his back holding Kenny up in the air still swinging wildly. The holding and swinging went on for some few more minutes till Kenny wore himself out.
Jody kept asking Kenny if he was tired yet and finally he was, so Jody let him down and we all went back to drinking our appointed rounds(mine was a michelob and a shoy of CC). And, thay’s how I met Kenny Galvin of the Boston Galvins.
