Here we go again Kenny

You’ve met Kenny at Old Macs afew months ago. I tried to avoid Kenny as much as possible. Now and then we would run into each other a one of the local bars. It always ended badly. Kenny started off sober and then after four/six drinks he would start to get that wacko look in his eye. That was usually me cue to leave.

One Tuesday evening I was walking down M street when around the corner comes Kenny. Hey Bill, where are you headed, he asked. Hi Kenny, I’m meeting a girl for a drink. It will be our first date and I want to make a good impression. I’ll go along with you he said. I said I want to make a good impression, so, no you can’t come along. Back and forth I’ll go with-no you can’t/Just one drink/ no you can’t come.

Kenny had that loco look already and I just wanted to get away. Kenny got mad and then he wanted to fight me, right there on M street. He started to take a few swings that I blocked easily. He got rougher and then I had to hit him. As we were starting to get into it right there a small group of young kid gathered around yelling FIGHT-FIGHT-FIGHT and then Kenny snapped. He looked at me, looked around at the kids and then Bam. He haymakered one of the kids and then the rest jumped in. As we both were fighting for our lives I threw one of them through the storefront window and the alarm went of.

The kids scattered and Kenny and I headed up the street to Martin’s Tavern. we hid back in the dugout room in the back. We could hear the sops going back and forth down the alley and around the block. My shirt was torn and my lip was bloody, but I was in better shape than Kenny. After a while the cops stopped patrolling, and I bought a Martin’s Tavern shirt to replace my torn one. I told Kenny I was going to be late for my date, so I have to go. Kenny said I’ll come around. I just stared at him and left

ps I didnt have a date I just wanted to get away from Kenny
